SRW Neo is finally here, and the game delivers a completely different SRW experience than any other.

The full 3D environment, although poor on details, is really a nice change of pace, with events and battles happening almost in real-time. I say almost, because we can still see the screen fade effect from each unit’s attack during the animation part.

There are several changes in the gameplay system, mostly covered on the news posts. A few interesting remarks:

  • Units status screen are “simplified” with the lack of pilot exchange feature: a Robot has a pilot (or 3) and that’s it, so pilot skills and unit abilities are blended together
  • Attacks have many different attributes: capable of Push, Fire, Bend, Hit and Away etc, and the enemy do use most of these against you
  • The Siege System can be the devil in the hands of the enemy: at the 1st stage, I got Liger surrounded by the 4 enemies near him, and got to see the 1st Game Over screen O_o
  • SPs, Morale and EN recover each turn, but this does not mean Seishin spam, as Pilot’s SP doesn’t start at its fullest capacity, though it recovers at each attack taken
  • Seishin usable at any time is really a life-saver (if, of course, the pilot in question has defensive Seishin during an enemy’s unavoidable attack)
  • Expendable items work in a different way: a Life / Energy Stone can be used once per stage, but are recovered at the intermission
  • There’s a limit to deployable units as usual, but reserve units are deployable indefinitely: pick a unit over the map, send it back to the ship, select a stand-by unit inside the ship to deploy
  • Full Upgrade Bonus can be changed indefinitely

I do believe all of the concepts you’ve offered on your post. They’re really convincing and can certainly work. Still, the posts are very short for newbies. Could you please prolong them a little from subsequent time? Thank you for the post.
