There are quite a few sites reporting what’s going on at Tokyo Game Show 2009 about SRW Neo. GPara’s site has an article with lots of pics of the demo stage, but there’s also a Japanese blog entry which reports some gameplay details as well.

Gpara’s pics shows a few attacks:

  • Triangle Crush, Ganbar Team (Ganabarugar)
  • Queen Sidron Tornado, Daisaider and Yaripanther (Lamune)

Anime Festival Asia 2009 – Items Acquired!

Well here is all the loot I acquired from the Anime Festival Asia 2009. The list ranges from figmas, to regular figurines, name cards and assorted brochures. Since the figma Saber Lily was the last one in stock, it was missing the PSP game (which I already have). I got the figma cheaper so I was happy with that.

I’m very happy with the Shana wall scroll. My walls don’t look so plain now. Hopefully I’ll be able to get more in the near future.

As you can see, there is a huge pile of paper type goods. I’m sure most of you who went to the festival managed to pick up the same stuff as I did.

Had a fun photo session with a simple floor base and themed backdrop for a good hour or so. Very exciting. The detail and craftsmanship of both figures is astounding.

Nendoroid Saber Lily decides to interrupt and join in on the photo session.

I was happy with my loot that I bagged. Especially the 2 Saber figures. That will save me the trouble of searching Ebay and on delivery costs.

A fan of Japanese animations and pop culture? Wondering where to go this weekend for yourself or with kids? Check this out!

The mega festival “Anime Festival Asia 2009 (AFA09)” is now on at Suntec International Convention and Exhibition Centre (Halls 403 and 404) from 21st to 22nd November and yes in Singapore! Featuring live concerts by Japan’s top music performers, special appearance by Asian Top Blogger (Danny Choo), anime screening, exhibits, fashion show, and regional cosplay championship.

Not forgetting the special attraction for my kids —- Kids Land.  Over here, kids above 4 years old can learn about making of sushi, dumplings, sandwiches, and more…….and get the chance to assemble model kits at Bandai’s Gundam Caravan. Oh yes, also hopefully they get to see more of their favourite Pokemons…and other wide range like Ben 10.  So….as we make our way there over this weekend, we understand that the event is targetting 50,000 local and overseas visitors.  I believe my boys and their father will be very excited despite the expected big crowd. <Living in a world of 3 males at home, mommy will have to “play along”, “tag along”, “adapt to boys’ interests”, “enjoy or at least appreciate” what they enjoy. But frankly, I do like all these animations:)>

So do check out the festival and ticketing details at  Refer to this copy of the event schedule extracted from the official site.

Gundam 30th Anniversary Series

…appears to be within the Universal Century timeline which is, in my most honest opinion, absolutely awesome! Fine, most people were hoping that Unicorn would be the 30th anniversary series that Bandai/Sunrise will release but heck, I’m not complaining about this one. It’s UC baby! And what makes it even better is the fact that the mecha design will be done by none other than Katoki Hajime himself! How awesome can that be?!
Now the mobile suit featured above is none other than the RX-78-7. Yes, 7. It’s not some redesign of the old RX-78-2 to go in line with remake of Mazinger Z. This is a different mobile suit.

As the focus of the One Year War shifts into space, the Earth Federation begins designing a new Gundam for space combat, and the end result is the RX-78-7 7th Gundam. The 7th Gundam is designed to equip Full Armor parts, and as a result the body is covered with mounting latches. The powerplant is more powerful than that of the RX-78-2 Gundam, however, there are sub generators installed in the Full Armor parts to not allow a drop in useable time. The body is in the class of the RX-78NT-1 Gundam “Alex” and is similarly equipped with magnetic coating and a panoramic monitor/linear seat cockpit. Unfortunately, the One Year War ends with only the basic frame of the 7th Gundam completed. – MAHQ

Above is the description of the 78-7 and the original designer was Kunio Okawara.

This series opens up a lot of possible series directions that Bandai can release afterwards for the UC line. It could link up with Advance of Zeta since this series is right smack in the middle and they can follow through with another storyline that falls right smack in the middle of two major stories. Since Katoki’s in the project, this could also connect (somehow) with Sentinel Gundam.

Of course, Bandai could also go with the “still milking the UC timeline” and release Unicorn. But then to be honest, as much as I would love to see a Unicorn anime NOW, I would prefer that the series be completed in the manga first before it gets animated. Somehow, I feel that it’s better that way. Fine, the suspense of waiting for the next episode is gone, but they can also play with sidestories along the way if they wanted to since the main storyline was well-established already. Or just make an OVA out of it.

Overall, I’m really happy with this move by Bandai. I’m am soooo looking forward to this UC series with Katoki doing the mecha designs. Of course, I do pray that we get none of that SEED Destiny Shinn-type pilot stereotype and none of that own-you-all type of mobile suit power.
